Today I bring you the next episode of my visit to the maid café At-home Café during my last trip to Japan in September 2019.

Visita a la Maid Legendaria - hitomi -
"Going back home" to meet the Legendary Maid - hitomi -
Como mencioné en mi entrada anterior, At-home Cafe es un maid café reconocido mundialmente y que ha visitado muchos países, incluyendo Chile, para mostrar la cultura pop japonesa.
Mucho de este reconocimiento se debe a la maid con más trayectoria en los 16 años del Café y que ahora se desempeña como Chief Branding Officer dentro de la empresa que administra esta cadena de maid cafés: la "Maid Legendaria", Hitomi Shiga.
As I mentioned in my previous post, At-home Cafe is a world renowned maid café that has visited many countries, including Chile, to showcase Japanese pop culture.
Much of this recognition is due to the maid with the longest experience in the café's 16 years of history, and who now works as Chief Branding Officer within the company that manages this chain of maid cafes: the "Legendary Maid", Hitomi Shiga.

La segunda visita de At-home café en suelo latinoamericano fue en Chile durante una Anime Expo en 2016. En este evento, hitomi asistió como única representante para hacer un pequeño show y atender de manera especial en el Café preparado exclusivamente para el evento, gracias a el maid café chileno Kawaii Bakery.
The second visit of At-home café to Latin American was in Chile during an Anime Expo in 2016. In this event, hitomi attended as the only representative to give a small show and attend in a special way in the Café prepared exclusively for the event, hosted by the Chilean maid cafe Kawaii Bakery.

Gracias a la invitación del maid café anfitrión, Meido (el maid café donde yo trabajaba) tuvo la oportunidad de también conocer a Hitomi y bailamos con ella la última canción de su show. (Pueden ver toda la experiencia AQUÍ)
En mi caso pude hablarle y además ser su intérprete de emergencia (no había nadie que pudiera ayudarla). Aunque se pueden contar con una mano las horas que pude hablar con ella, sentí un lazo muy fuerte y esperé con ansias el día de poder visitarla ya en Japón dentro de At-home maid café.
Thanks to the invitation from the host maid café, Meido (the maid café where I worked at) also had the opportunity to meet Hitomi and we danced with her to the last song of her show. (You can see the whole experience HERE)
In my case I was able to talk to her and also be her emergency interpreter (there was no one who could help her on that moment). Although I can count on one hand the hours that I was able to talk to her, I felt a very strong bond and looked forward to the day of being able to visit her in Japan at the At-home maid café.

La verdad es que como Hitomi ya no es una maid de tiempo completo, asumí que no iba ser posible verla en el período que yo estuviera en Japón. No obstante, ella publicó en su twitter que sí estaría atendiendo un día en el café, por lo que decidí cambiar mis planes de la tarde para poder reencontrarme con ella una vez más después de 3 años. Fui muy emocionada al café que ya era mi lugar favorito en Tokio.
The truth is that since Hitomi is no longer a full-time maid, I assumed that it would not be possible to see her during the time I was in Japan. However, she posted on her twitter that she would be working one day at the cafe, so I decided to change my plans for the afternoon to be able to meet her one more time after 3 years. I went very excited to the cafe that was already my favorite place in Tokyo.
Al llegar al edificio de At-home, subí muy emocionada. La maid que me recibió fue Maid Yukirin (ya graduada) que debo decir tenía una de las sonrisas más adorables que he visto en mi vida. Me llevó al asiento de en medio de la barra principal donde se puede ver el show que a veces hacen las maids.
Upon reaching the At-home building, I went up very excited. The maid who welcomed me was Maid Yukirin (already graduated) who I must say had one of the most adorable smiles I have ever seen. She took me to the seat in the middle of the main bar where you can see the show that the maids sometimes do.
El lugar perfecto para poder ver a todas las maids, todo el ambiente y por supuesto para que Hitomi me pudiera reconocer fácilmente entre todos los goshujinsama y ojousama. Pedí un set de Omurice (omelette de huevo sobre arroz), bebestible y fotografía instantánea para poder tener un recuerdo con Hitomi. Al lado mío se sentó una chica vestida muy linda y que reaccionaba mucho (pero ella intentaba disimularlo jaja) a todo el mundo rosa y bello que nos rodeaba. La saludé y conversamos unos minutos sobre las maids que nos gustaban y de mi razón de ir a ver a Hitomi.
My seat was the perfect place to see all the maids, the whole environment and of course so that Hitomi could easily recognize me among all the goshujinsama and ojousama. I ordered the omurice set (egg omelette on rice), that came with a drink and snapshot so I could have a photo with Hitomi. Next to me sat a girl dressed very pretty and who reacted a lot (but she tried to hide it haha) to all the pink and beautiful world around us. I greeted her and we talked for a few minutes about the maids we liked and my reason for going to see Hitomi.

Ya que este es mi blog y que la mayoría sabe cuánto amo los maid cafés, en particular At-home Café, quiero ser honesta describiendo mi visita. A diferencia de cuando fui a ver a Mizukin, esa tarde en At-home café fue bastante diferente y pasó algo que no contaba con que iba a suceder.
Since this is my blog and most of you know how much I love maid cafes, At-home Café in particular, I want to be honest in describing my visit. Unlike when I went to see Mizukin, that afternoon at At-home café was quite different and something happened that I did not expect it would.
Hitomi estaba tan ocupada atendiendo órdenes de visitantes regulares que no pude interactuar con ella en 55 de los 60 minutos que duró mi visita.
Hitomi was so busy taking orders from regular visitors that I was unable to interact with her for 55 of the 60 minutes my visit lasted.
Ya cuando iba por la mitad de mi Omurice, empecé a sentirme un poco ansiosa de no poder ni siquiera saludar a Hitomi. Ella pasaba por detrás mío, haciendo lo que creo era atender a clientes japoneses que parecían ser regulares del local y que pedían el menú para jugar un juego de mesa con la maid. Eso le da al cliente la oportunidad de hablar por algunos minutos con su maid de preferencia.
By the time I was halfway through my Omurice, I started to feel a bit anxious that I couldn't even say hello to Hitomi. She passed behind me, doing what I think was serving Japanese customers who seemed to be regulars of the place and who asked for the menu to play a board game with her. This gives the customer the opportunity to talk with their favourite maid for a few minutes.
Eso me hizo ver lo ocupada que puede ser su jornada como maid atendiendo a sus seguidores más fieles, pero no era suficiente para que yo en ese momento dejara de sentirme muy triste por no poder saludarla.
Por un lado yo quería ser empática, paciente y esperar por una sonrisa, pero por el otro mi mente no dejaba de recordarme que había esperado 3 años y viajado 30 horas en avión para esa única oportunidad que milagrosamente apareció en mi itinerario. No podría ir otro día a verla de nuevo, porque yo ya no estaría en Japón.
That made me see how busy her day as a maid can be serving to her most loyal fans, but it wasn't enough for me at that moment to stop feeling very sad for not being able to greet her.
On the one hand I wanted to be empathetic, patient and wait with a smile on my face, but on the other hand my mind kept reminding me that I had waited 3 years and traveled 30 hours by plane for that one opportunity that miraculously appeared on my itinerary. I couldn't go another day to see her again, because I would no longer be in Japan.
Volviendo a la historia, al pedirle a Yukirin que la foto instantánea fuera con Hitomi, solo me quedaba esperar a 5 minutos del final de mi visita para que ella me llamara al escenario para tomarnos la foto cheki juntas. Antes de eso tuve que ir al baño para respirar un poco, porque sabía que me veía muy "a punto de llorar" y no quería que Hitomi lo notara al verme.
Well, going back to the story, when I asked Yukirin that I wanted to take the snapshot with Hitomi, I only had to wait until the last 5 minutes of my visit for her to call me on stage to take the cheki photo together. Before that, I had to go to the bathroom to breathe a little, because I knew I looked "about to cry" and I didn't want Hitomi to notice it when she saw me.
Ya acercándome al final de la visita, Hitomi por fin me llamó al escenario para que nos tomáramos la foto cheki. No conseguí nada yendo al baño antes porque Hitomi al saludarme muy animada se dio cuenta de que algo no estaba bien. "¿Estás bien Bekyuu?" me preguntó, pero obviamente yo le dije que todo estaba bien para que no se preocupara.
As I was getting closer to the end of the visit, Hitomi finally called me on stage so we could take the cheki photo together. At the end it was meaningless going to the bathroom before, because Hitomi realized that something wasn't right. "Are you okay Bekyuu?" she asked me, but obviously I told her that everything was fine so she wouldn't worry.

Pude hablar finalmente con Hitomi durante los últimos 5 minutos de mi visita. Esto lo conseguí gracias a que pedí en el menú una foto cheki con ella, y las maids generalmente al decorar la fotografía y entregártela dedican algunos minutos para hablar contigo. Traté de conversar un poco y contarle por qué estaba de viaje en Japón, pero (yo sé que suena muy exagerado jaja) yo ya estaba muy triste por dentro y no pude aprovechar bien ese tiempo que tanto esperaba tener. Ella lo notó y sigo lamentando hasta ahora la actitud que yo tuve en esa oportunidad. Al final, Hitomi me dejó en la entrada del café como cortesía para despedirme. (Lo siento mucho Hitomi T_T)
I was finally able to speak to Hitomi on the last 5 minutes of my visit because the maids usually, when they decorate the photograph and give it to you, spend a few minutes to talk to you. I tried to talk a little and tell her why I was in Japan, but (I know it sounds very exaggerated haha) I was already too sad inside and I could not make good use of that time. She noticed it and I continue to regret the attitude that I had at that time. In the end, Hitomi escorted me to the exit of the cafe as a courtesy. (I'm so sorry Hitomi T_T)
Con esta entrada de ninguna manera estoy tratando de desalentar a cualquiera que desee ir a At-home Café, porque yo también soy una fan y cuando pueda ir a Japón volveré todas las veces que pueda. Lamentablemente a mí justo me tocó la mala suerte de ir en un horario donde Hitomi no pudo prestar atención a los otros comensales que estaban en el café y eso lo entiendo perfectamente. En blogs como el de Mayu chan, pueden leer experiencias mucho mejores del maid café y de maid Hitomi en particular.
With this post I am in no way trying to discourage anyone from going to At-home Café, because I am also a fan and when I can go back to Japan I'll definetely visit at-home as many times as I can. Unfortunately, I just had the bad luck to go at a time where Hitomi could not pay attention to the other customers who were in the cafe and I understand that perfectly. On blogs like Mayu chan's, you can read much better experiences of maid café and Hitomi.

Ella estaba muy contenta de vernos y nos daba muchos ánimos. Antes de bailar juntas, cantó 2 temas muy famosos entre los fanáticos de los maid cafés y mientras cantaba la primera canción, su asistente se me acercó. Al parecer, el intérprete que iba a ayudar a Hitomin-sama estaba ocupado y necesitaban que la ayudara !! asdfghasdfgakjdsghgsjg!! Estaba muy nerviosa, porque nunca antes había interpretado a alguien frente a tanta gente, el lugar estaba repleto!
