Hello! Thank you for visiting this page.
If you've come across this post, you may be looking for tips on how to start a blog, your own cute little corner of the internet away from social media and doomscrolling.
Blogs were among the first sites in the history of the internet where ordinary people could write about their interests without having to pay for a domain. At the same time, forums were also very popular (they still exist!) and served as inspiration for what are now Discord servers, for example.
The person writing this post has been blogging for over 10 years now. I haven't been consistent at all during that time, but I always come back because it's my safe place, where people who are genuinely interested in the same things as I am can come and read without being slaves to social media algorithms. So, in this post, I'd like to give you some tips on how to find cute elements for your new blog.
1. Find a website where you can create your blog and customize it.
For beginners, I don't recommend looking for websites where you have to pay a subscription fee to access them. In my experience, I can recommend three pages where you can write freely and customize your blog to your liking.
- Blogger: This blog is hosted on Blogger, which is one of Google's free products. If you have Gmail, you can create your own blog. It has simple and advanced options for customization. Your blog address will have “.blogspot.com” and is one of the most widely used.
- Wordpress: It has the same structure as Blogger and is also widely used, especially by people who want to create a website for their businesses, because there is the option to convert it into a “.com” website.
- Tumblr: Tumblr is a social network, a predecessor of Instagram, but with the difference that it was created to share audiovisual and creative content through a feed and with the creation of your own fully customizable space (profile). Many people choose to use Tumblr because it combines today's social networks with what a blog is. You can also customize it with basic HTML knowledge.
2. Learn some basic HTML for blogging.
HTML is a web design language. With the advent of blogs, many people (like me) who know absolutely nothing about programming can, with a few tips and videos from other internet users, further customize their pages to give them a unique touch. For example, if you don't like the default backgrounds available on your blog, you can use HTML to add the image you want. You can add videos, images, links, slideshows, and even cursors if you learn the basics.
3. Look for sites where you can find resources for your blog.
If you want a cute, kawaii, adorable blog (although it actually works for any style), I highly recommend using Pinterest to search for any type of image, font, or background, as its algorithm will always suggest more things in the style you like. In addition, Pinterest has a lot of “lost media” (images that you can no longer find in their original sources).
4. Enjoy creating your blog and write about whatever you want.
A blog is not made for immediate views or reactions like social media. That's the essence of creating a space to share what you love most. Over time, you'll learn how to use it better, add things to it, maybe take a break, but you can always come back. You may find other blogs you like and comment on them after reading their posts.
Among the benefits of blogging are improving your writing, style, and boosting your creativity. Dedicating a moment of your day to this activity could help you concentrate and, as I wrote earlier, escape the anxiety that social media sometimes brings.
I hope these tips are useful to you and that you enjoy this trend that has made a comeback.
See you in the next post!!!
