Esta es la 3ra parte de mis visitas al maid café At-home Cafe en Akihabara, Tokio.

This is the 3rd part of my visits to the maid café At-home Cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo.
Una de mis metas de mi pasado viaje a Japón en 2019 fue definitivamente sentir más la atmósfera donde se desenvuelven los maid cafés y por supuesto Akihabara fue uno de los barrios que más veces visité con este propósito.
One of my goals from my last trip to Japan in 2019 was definitely to feel more of the atmosphere where the maid cafes take place and of course Akihabara was one of the places that I visited the most for this purpose.
Mi última visita a At-home fue 1 día antes de regresar a Chile; esta vez iría con dos amigas y maids con las que participo activamente en nuestra comunidad Secret Sweet Maid. Me refiero a Miki y a Mayu.
My last visit to At-home was 1 day before going back to Chile; this time I would go with two friends and maids with whom I actively participate in our Secret Sweet Maid community. These are Miki and Mayu.
Acordé con ambas que nos juntaríamos temprano en Akihabara, porque además de visitar el maid café planeamos cumplir el sueño de toda maid extranjera que es hacer una sesión de fotos en plena calle. Llamamos a este sueño "Misión Akihabara". (Nota: para esta sesión, solo Miki y yo aparecemos pero Mayu nos asistió todo el tiempo)
I agreed with both of them that we would meet early in Akihabara, because in addition to visiting the maid cafe, we planned to fulfill the dream of every foreign maid, which is to do a photo session in the middle of the street. We call this dream "Mission Akihabara". (Note: for this only Miki and I participated, and Mayu was helping us the entire time)
Al llegar el día, me reuní primero con Miki quien necesitaba un par de accesorios antes de la sesión, así que nos dirigimos a Don Quijote, una mega tienda muy famosa en Japón que tiene uno de sus locales en Akihabara.
En el edificio de Don Quijote además está el teatro de AKB48 y muy convenientemente la primera sucursal de At-home Cafe (a la que no fuimos pero paso el dato jeje).
La tienda además de maquillaje, medicinas, snacks y electrodomésticos, también tiene una sección de cosplay con todos lo que necesites. Puedes encontrar desde medias hasta pelucas y lentes de contacto. Aquí junto a Miki buscamos los accesorios que le hacían falta para luego ir a ponernos nuestros uniformes de Maid.
The day finally came and first I met with Miki who needed a couple of accessories before the shoot, so we headed to Don Quijote, a very famous mega store in Japan that has one of its stores in Akihabara.
In the Don Quijote building there is also the AKB48 theater and, conveniently, the first branch of At-home Cafe.
The store doesn't only sell makeup, medicines, snacks and appliances, but also has a cosplay corner with everything you would need. You can find everything from stockings to wigs and contact lenses. Here with Miki we looked for the accessories that she needed and then we went to put on our Maid uniforms.
Para ponernos nuestros trajes, recordé que había un lugar perfecto a pocas cuadras de la calle principal (tomen nota quienes necesiten cambiarse cómodamente de ropa en Akihabara) Se trata del edificio Akiba Cultures Zone, un edificio que tiene tiendas de artículos de anime de segunda mano y cafés. El edificio tiene baños públicos limpios (como la mayoría en Japón) y al menos en el de mujeres hay cubículos cerrados para que no molestes a nadie mientras te cambias.
Importante: por favor, si vas a cambiarte sé educado y rápido, no abarques todo el lugar y sé limpio y respetuoso con las demás personas que utilicen el lugar.
To put on our dresses, I remembered that there was a perfect place a few blocks from the main street (take note those who need to change their clothes comfortably in Akihabara) This is the Akiba Cultures Zone building, a center that has second-hand anime stores and restaurants. The building has clean public toilets (like most in Japan) and at least in the women's bathroom there are closed cubicles so you don't disturb anyone while you change.
Important: please, if you are going to change, be polite and fast, do not cover the whole place and be clean and respectful to other people who use the place.
Ahora que estábamos listas, fuimos a reunirnos con Mayu quien nos esperaba en la estación. Después buscamos un sitio para dejar nuestros bolsos (los llamados Coin Lockers) y empezamos nuestra aventura.
Now that we were ready, we went to meet Mayu who was waiting for us at the station. Then we looked for a place to leave our bags (the so-called Coin Lockers) and we started our adventure.
(Para los Goshujinsama/Ojousama chilenos: lamentablemente la venta de estas fotos estaba programada para nuestro próximo evento, sin embargo por la pandemia no pudimos avanzar con la producción del material. Esperamos que el próximo año podamos ofrecerlas en el catálogo de goods de Secret Sweet Maid)
Nuestra ruta por Akihabara contempló 4 sitios claves.
Our route through Akihabara had 4 key spots.
1. Calle principal/ Main Street (Chuo doori)
Por supuesto comenzamos en la calle principal de Akihabara, la que aparece en la televisión e Internet. La calle está rodeada de tiendas de electrónica y de videojuegos. En su famoso cruce además hay una gigantografía de At-home Cafe recibiendo a todos los turistas.
Of course we started on the main street in Akihabara, the one that appears on television and the Internet. The street is lined with electronics and video game stores. At its famous crossroads, there is also a billboard of At-home Cafe welcoming all tourists.

2. Akihabara UDX
UDX es uno de los edificios que vez por primera vez al salir de la estación JR de Akihabara. Está rodeado de pasarelas que tienen una vista privilegiada de la línea de tren que pasa justo a su lado. Aquí pude sacarme una de mis fotos favoritas, donde miro el paso de los trenes en un día de lluvia. Para ser sincera el clima estaba horrible, a momentos llovía a cántaros, pero suerte que llevábamos paraguas. Los transeúntes japoneses ni siquiera nos miraban, un par de maids en Akihabara no era nada fuera de lo común para ellos.
UDX is one of the buildings you see for the first time when you're finally out of JR Akihabara station. It is surrounded by walkways that have a privileged view of the train line that passes right next to it. Here I was able to take one of my favorite photos, where I watch the trains pass by on a rainy day. To be honest the weather was horrible, at times it rained heavily, but luckily we had umbrellas. Japanese passers-by didn't even look at us, a couple of maids in Akihabara were nothing out of the ordinary for them
3. Afueras de Don Quijote. Outside Don Quijote Building.
At-home Cafe. Les recomiendo estas para tomarse fotos junto a ellas.
Como les mencioné antes, dentro del edificio está la primera sucursal At-home,
pero al frente de la calle también pueden encontrar otros maid cafés.
Outside the Don Quijote building, there are 2 other At-home Cafe billboards. I recommend these to take photos with them. As I mentioned before, inside the building is the first At-home branch, but across the street you can also find other maid cafes.
4. Afuera de edificio At-home y Maid Street. Outside At-home building and Maid Street.
Por último finalizamos la sesión tomándonos unas fotos en la entrada del edificio principal de At-home Cafe. La verdad es que fue difícil hacerlo, porque está en una vereda muy transitada, pero lo conseguimos para tener ese hermoso recuerdo.
Nuestras últimas fotografías fueron en la "Calle de las Maids" o "Maid flyer Street". Esta calle está justo entre Akiba Cultures Zone y el edificio de At-home Cafe y en cada vereda se pueden ver maids de diferentes cafés ofreciendo panfletos a los transeúntes. Lamentablemente es difícil grabar a las maids porque cuando ven una cámara inmediatamente se tapan el rostro, pero dejaré algunos videos para que aprecien mejor dónde estuvimos.
Finally, we ended the photoshoot by taking some photos at the entrance of the main building of At-home Cafe. The truth is that it was very difficult to do it, because it is on a very busy street, but we managed to get a beautiful memory. Our last photographs were in the "Maid flyer Street". This street is right between Akiba Cultures Zone and the At-home Cafe building and on each sidewalk you can see maids from different cafes offering pamphlets to passersby. Unfortunately it is difficult to take a picture of the maids because when they see a camera they immediately cover their faces, but I will leave some videos so that you can better appreciate where we were.
Otsukaresamadeshita! Luego de terminar la sesión, para cerrar la tarde visitamos juntas At-home Cafe.

Como si fuese el destino, tuvimos la gran suerte de ir al café justo cuando Premium Maid Mizukin y Maid Akarin (ya graduada) estaban trabajando.
Maid Akarin también asistió a SJE en Chile, por lo que al vernos estaba muy feliz, de hecho, llegamos justo a tiempo para verla cantar y bailar en el escenario de At-home.
Akarin tenía un fan bastante ruidoso y lleno de energía, yo llegué hasta a asustarme con sus gritos para ella. Creo que es la primera vez que veo a un fan tan apasionado.
As if it were destiny, we had the great luck to go to the cafe just when Premium Maid Mizukin and Maid Akarin (already graduated) were working.
Maid Akarin also attended SJE in Chile. When she saw us there she was very happy, in fact we arrived just in time to see her dancing on the At-home stage.
Akarin had a pretty loud and energetic fan, I even got scared watching him screaming for her lol. I think that was the first time I have seen such a passionate fan.
Ya que tenía desde mi primera visita una fotografía cheki con Mizukin, decidí pedir mi última fotografía con Akarin. Qué hermoso recuerdo pude conseguir en mi última noche en Japón.
Since I had a Cheki photograph with Mizukin from my first visit, I decided to request my last polaroid with Akarin. What a beautiful memory I was able to get on my last night in Japan!
Finalmente había llegado la hora de despedirnos. Mientras que yo al día siguiente tomaba un avión de regreso a Chile, Miki y Mayu continuarían sus aventuras en Japón por otros 6 meses. El poder estar con ellas, hacer una sesión de fotos en Akihabara y visitar juntas el maid café que amamos hizo que ese fuera uno de los mejores días de toda mi vida. Muchas gracias chicas por acompañarme en ese día de ensueño.
So, it was finally time to say goodbye. While I was taking a plane back to Chile the next day, Miki and Mayu would continue their adventures in Japan for another 6 months. Being able to hang out with them, do a photoshoot in Akihabara, and visit the maid cafe we love together made this one of the best days of my entire life. Thank you very much girls for joining me on that dream day.
